U. held last month, adopted the tollowins: 3. Resolved, That we heartily approve of the Temperance Congress at the Columbian Exposition, proposed by the National Temperance Society, and we urge the appointment of some committee of this organiration to repre„ scnt us taere as requested by tie Soctety. The tollowins Committees were chosen to cooperate with the National Temperance Society in its proposed Congress: Mrs. J. Ellen Poster, lowa, Mrs. E. J. Phinney, Ohio. Mrs. T. B. Walker, Minnesota, Mrs. L. H. Tilton, District of Columbia, Mrs. Richard Darlington, Pennsylvania, Mrs. A. C. Paul, Maine, Mrs. M. E. Walker, Illinois, Mrs. C. C. Alford, New Vork, and Mrs. M. H. Ingham, Ohio. This organiration proposes to hold a Congress of its oun, and will un- doubtedly communicate with you on the subject. The Supreme Council of the Templars of Honor and Temperance of North America, at its recent annual session, adopted the tollowins resolution: Resolved, That we most heartily endorse the action of the National Tem- Friance o Ee fins et Aus cumhian Expogition, and that the Most Worthy Templar appoint delexates thereto. The tollowins Advisory Committee tor the Dominion of Canada nas been appointed to cooperate with the National Temperance Societys Worlds Temperance Consress Committee: Sir Leonard Tilley, Governor of New Brunswick, Hon. Geo. W. Ross, Minister of Finance, Dr. Oronhyatekha, Right Worthy Grand Templar of the Good Templars of the world. Hon. W. H. Houland. Ex-Mayor of Toronto. and Rev. A. M. Phillips, B. D. of the Royal Templars of Temperance. T recently held a conference with this Committee in Toronto, and assur- ances were given of hearty co operation trom the Dominion of Canada. It is proposed to hold the Congress in tour General Divisions, durins the days allotted, as foll0w5: Scientifie and Medical. Educational and Economical. 2. 3. Legislative and Political. Religious and Miscellancous. Two evenins meetings are desired to be held under the auspices of the Societys Worlds Temperance Congress Committee, with popular speakers; and the Societys Committée will also cordially unite in the arrangements tor the great popular Union meetings to be held under the auspices of the Gen- eral Committee of the Wontus Covontss Auxiianr of the Worlds Columbian Exposition. All desire to unite in makins these a great success. The following is the Local Committee in Chicago of the National Tem- perance Societys Worlds Temperance Congress Committee: W. J. Mills, Rev. The celebration of the tour hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America by a Worlds Columbian Exposition in Chicago, in 1893. under the sanction and by invitation of the Governinent of the Onsted States, wilt bring toxether a large number ot representatives ot many countries to participate in the great historie commemoration. Besides the material exhibits of the various nationalities, it is proposed that there shall be a series of Worlds Congresses to commemorate also their achievements in science, literature, education, jurisprudence, charity, philanthropy, religion, and in other depart- ments AunalEr Moetdrd PoHunaa Axposrntov has been officially authorized and organized to promote the holdins and success of such Congresses.
