On October 7, 1707, a ship arrived at the Coromandel coast. The new arrival brought letters about the Company's situation in Golconda. A copy of these letters was sent the next day over the land route. The ship was first sighted on the 15th, and the ship's officers came ashore two days later. Among them was the new second-in-command of the northern district, junior merchant Isaak Seloover, who arrived with his family. He was to replace the former second-in-command, junior merchant Hermanus van Suchtelen. Van Suchtelen had received permission from the governor and council of Nagapatnam to leave his position, under certain conditions that would be discussed under Masulipatnam matters. Since the ship was now ready to sail, they considered it their highest duty to report on the Company's affairs in the various trading posts of the northern district.
