dent therefore serves notice on you, in your capacity of Jurector, that he and his contany intend (God willing) to continue their afore mentioned voyage. And if they should come and trade also in the Virginias or the persons thereabout (which they helped to seek and find before this time, to their great damage and loss, as is menconed before) no one should reasonally or Zeirly have the power to present or obstruct them. And should you or your people attempt or do anything to the detriment of the respondent and his Company, in that case they wished to have expressly protested against this in due time. therefore they protest also against all cost, damage and interest which the respondent and his Company might suffer on this account until the metter is settled. They shall appropriate, presume, and reoover the same, with all its consequences and appurtenances, at all times and by all means, howsoever it may be and their good judgement shall require. Nevertheless in spite of their above-mentioned well-grunded protest, the afore- said dependent and his Company offer, in case this protest is not acceptrd, to desist and to give up all trade in the Virginias and the régions there about for this voyage, provided that the aforesaid Company will promise to pay their expenses and to make good the damage which they will have suffered according to valua¬ tion by discreet and reliable people, to wit they will in that case be willing to give up this voyage and to said elsewhere, wherever they may think advisable. They ask for a prompt and immediate answer in order to act accordingly, since they lie- ready to said. When the notice of all this was served on the aforesaid Company, the aforesaid Van Tweenhuysen replied that the Company would act accord to the charter granted her; and the aforesaid Pelgrum said that he would also serve this notice to the otherodirectors and that they would discuss the metter. The aforesaid respondent asked to have one or more copies in the usual form.
