he [Block] had made two ships ready to said there again as one ship would be
sufficient to take in the cargo. Among other things he said that he, the deponent,
had understood that there were still some other companies which wanted to go
there, where upon the said Block answered, if I am willing to Dermit this. The
the deponent said that he throught that he [Block] would be obliged to grow it
unless he had a patent. The said Block replied that he had à patent, on which the
deponent answerd that that was impossible, since the towns had to consent to it,
which the deponent know that they would not do. The said Block replied to him
again that he would force those who wanted to go thence with his guns. The
deponent answered that if he should attempt or begin such a they, and if the
deponent were interested in it, he would make the subjects of Amsterdam too hon
for him and that he should know where to find him and the owners with their
goods.

1614, August 1. Notice in the name of the owners of Hendrick Christiaensen's ship
to those of Thijs Volckertsz. Mossel's ship about arrested good.
To-day, the first of August 1614, I, Jan Fransen Bruyningh, notary public resi-
ding in Amsterdam, admitted to the Court of Holland, in the presence of the
signed witnesses, at the requirement and request of shipper Hendrick Carstiaen-
sen’s shipohners, called on the persons Hans Claesen and Aernout van Lijbergen,
schipohners of shipper Thijs Volckertsen Mossel, to serve notice on them and the
other shipohners and road to them what here foollws:
Sice you, shipohners of Thijs Volckertss Mossel, have impertinently arrested the
deponent's goods, which arrive here from Nova Virginia on the said Hendrick
