would do it, and that some of the new of the said Hendrick Carstiaenss were
angry that a trade-agreement had been made between the supercargo of the wit-
nesses’ ship and the said Adriaen Block.
The witnesses also know and acknowledge that the afore mentioned Hendrick
Carstiaensen without any reason stuck the said Hans Joriss Hontom, supercargo
of the witnesses’ ship, on board of the same ship, when the last was ill, but had
always tried to quarrel and make discord. they had also board and understood
from other people that the said Hendrick Carstiaenss had threetened on board to
shoot the aforementoned Hontom, their supercargo, and that they wished to take
their ship.
Also that the constable of the ship of Hendrick Carstiaenss gave the supercargo

And about four or five weeks after the ship of Adriaen Block was beened, on the
