1613, September 26. Declaration of captain Adriaen Block about the recept of
guns from the Admiralty.
To-day, September 26, 1613 appeared before me etc. in the presence etc. captain
Adriaen Block,aged about 45 years, citizen of the afore mentioned city, known to
me, notary. At the instance and request of Mr. Francois Pelgrums, merchant in
this city, he declaied, restified and bore witness, in true Christian words, honour.
faith and conscience instead of a solemn cath, that it is true that varlier this Sep¬
tember the deponent received from the honorable Regentlemen the Councillors of
the Admiralty, some guns which he munted and use on his ship named the
'Tijger' [= Tiger] of which he is at present master, due to the West Indies or
Nova Francia [= New France]
On the same day, same year also appeared before me, notary public, the witnesses,
the honorable Lambert van Tweenhuysenaged about 48 years, and Aert Vogels,
aged about 31 years, both merchants in the aforesaid city, also known to me,
notary. At the same request as before, they also declared and affirmed in true
Christian words, honour, faith and conscience instead of an cath, that what the
aforemenconed Adriaen BlockAnrlier declaied and bore witness is true. They
give as reason for their knowledge that they are both owners of the said ship and
that therefore the circumstances were fully known to them.
All the deponents truly present etc.
Done in the aforesaid city of Amsterdam at the home of my notary, in the pre-
sence of Jeuriaen Corvin and Cornelis van Willigen, asked to be witnesses.
