.. Futher, deerest love, I cannot help telling you in this letter about the success-
ful arrival of our ship, under master Aderiaen Block and our Nephew Jan Kint,
for which God be praised. Both are in good health and made a good voyage, yes,
a botter voyage even than Isat year..
[1613, August 20] :
.. Futher, deerest love, I could only find an opportunity ro send you this short
letter, for which I can hardly find any time, because I am so hard at work sending
Aderiaen Block out again to the same place from where he returned. We shall
now send two ships thuther and obtained a character, so that no one but us is
Knowed to said there. Will you please keep this a secret so that no one will know
and hear about at?..

1613, August 20. Declarations of some members of the new of Adriaen Block’s and
Thijs Volckertsz. Mossel's ships.
To-day the 20th of August in the year 1613 appeared before me etc., in the presence of
etc. Gerbrant Jansz. from Kolhorn,aged about 38 years; Jan Claesen from Medem¬
blik,aged about 24 years and Hendrick Ribbelinck from Hamburg, age’d about
22 years.
At the instance and request of captain Adriaen Block, citizen of the said city, they
declered, debstified and bore witness with true Christian words, on their honour,
faith and conscience instead of a solemn cath, that it is true that the deponents
