in the city of Chicago, in June, 1893. the definite days to be hereatter an nounced. It is expected that the Congress will continue in session at least tour days; that simultaneous sessions will be held in several sections tor the pre- sentation and discussion of the various topies which will claim the attention of the Congress. There will be an extended series of papers, presented by able, thoroughly competent writers of various countries, embracins a con- densed history of the origin and work of the varions temperance organirations and orders, and the present condition and needs of the temperance retorm in the difterent nationalities. At the Committees request the State Department at Washinston nas kindly consented to have addressed to our Consular officers, in all the coun- tries wherein America is officially represented, the tollowins questions, tor such replies as these officials may be able to make, and to have the world- wide information thus secured placed at the Committees disposal tor use at the Worlds Temperance Congress. Statisties as to the quantity and kinds of intoxicatins liquors produced. As 1o Government methous of dealing with the manufacture and Sale of intoxicatins liquors. As to intemperance as related to poverty, immorality, and crime. 4. As to what efforts are veins made to discourage the use, manufacture, and sale of intoxicants. The Committee cordially and earnestly invite representatives trom all temperance organinations and religious bodies, or other organirations in 5ym- pathy with the objects of the Congress, and prominent triends of temperance n foreign countries not connected with any organiration. It will be a Con- gress for deliberation only: no resolutions will be entertained, or action taken, of bindins force upon the representatives of any country present. All national organirations should send seven representatives; State and Provin cial organinations should send tive representatives: local organirations two representatives. In case organinations shall tail to appoint representatives, the presidins officers thereot, or in their absence or tailure, the secretary may appoint representatives. With tew exceptions the membership of the Committees is local: that of the Advisory Councils is, for the most part, composed of non residents of Chicago.
