1 progress of the world, in connection with the Columbian Ex-
position of 1893. in a series of Worlds Congresses under the auspices of ihe
Auxiliary, with the assistance of the leaders in all the chief departments of
human achievement.
11. To provide places of meetins and other facilities tor appropriate
organinations to hold conventions in Chicago at a convenient time in the
Exposition season of 1893. tor the consideration of the livins questions pend-
ins in their respective departments.
111. To arrange and conduct a series ot Union Congresses to present to
the people the most important results attained in the several departments of
civilired lite, voiced by the ablest living representatives whose attendance can
ve procured.
W. To provide tor the proper publication of the proceedings of such
Congresses, as the most valuable and endurins memorial of the Worlds
Columbian Exposition of 1893.
V. To brins all the departments of human progress into harmonious
relations with each other in the Exposition of 1893: to croun the whole
glorious work by the formation and adoption of better and more compre-
hensive plans than have hitherto been made to promote the progress, pros-
perity, unity, peace, and happiness of the world: and to secure the effectual
prosecution of such plans by the organiration of a series of world wide trater-
nities through whose efforts and infsuence the moral and intellectual torces
of mankind may be made dominant throughout the world.

1. Alocal membership, consistins of persons resident in or near Chicaso.
and embracins the members of the several General and Special Committees
ot the Auxiliary in charge of the various Departments, Divisions, Chapters,
and Sections in which Congresses are to be held.
11. Advisory Councils of such Departments, Divisions, Chapiers, and
Sections, consistins of persons eminent in the work thereot, and non resident
of Chicago, who are especially invited to co operate with the appropriate local
Committees, and who constitute the non resident branches of such Committees.
The Advisory Councils are expected to aid the local Committees by corre-
spondence treely, and by personal conference as opportunity may offer.
111. General Honorary and Correspondins Members of the Auxiliary, con-
sisting of eminent persons not specially assigned to co operate witti a particu-
lar 1ocal Committee.
W. The Womans Branch of the Worlds Congress Auxiliary, consistins
of Committees of Women correspondins to the Committees of Men on all
subjects appropriate tor the co operation of women. These Committees of
women are composed of members resident in or near Chicaso, and are
assisted in their work by Advisory Councils of eminent women correspondins
to the Advisory Councils of men. Mixed Committees are not appointed: but
the Committee ot Men and the Committee of Women in a siven Department,
Division, Chapter, or Section, may meet in conference and act together as
they may tind agreeable and expedient. in several instances the Committees
of women and of men atter meetins in conference have resolved to hold joint
meetings on the subject committed to their charse.
The Womans Branch of the Auxiliary also has a general Honorary and
Correspondins Membership of distinguished women.

1. The Directory of the Worlds Columbian Exposition has undertaken
to provide suitable places of meetins tor the proposed Worlds Congresses,
and to that end has taken action with the Art Institute of Chicago for the
erection on the shore of Lake Michigan of a permanent Memorial Art
Palace, with a suitable Auditorium tor large conventions, and smaller rooms
tor meetings ot Divisions, Chapters and Sections ot the various Departments,
to be used durins the Exposition season for Worlds Congress purposes, and
aster its close to be devoted to the uses of the Art Institute. Should additional
places of meeting be required. they will doubiless be provided, and the Aux-
iliary will offer whatever facilities may be at its command tor the accommoda-
tion of those who will participate in the proposed Worlds Congresses
