The afore mentioned Esker Annes and Dirck Clasen declare it to be true that at
the end of last April (they know not the exact day) the witnesses were in the pro-
ducer’s sloop and salled down the silver with their sloop, tegether with Thijs
Mossel’s sloop, which he was ½board. They arrivee tegether on the lawland's
where a canoe with savages came from the share to the sloop of the said Hendrick
Carstiaensen. When the new in Thijs Mossel's sloop say this, they first at the
said canoe, which came to the sloop of the producer. The new in Mossel’s sloop
put the oars down and got their muskets ready and nowed across to the sloop of
the producer and the canoe. They arrive there with such a speed that the Canoe
was smashed to pieces. Futher, they hewed with their hatchets to sdamage the
canoe further, thereby almost cleaving thehead of a man of the producer’s new
with a blow that struck near his hand and he would have lost his live if he had not
ourned reside. On this attach the savages ran from the canoe to the producer’s
sloop, to which they were lied. When the witnesses applied to the said Thijd
Mossel about this same violente and difference, he said that he wanted to take part
in the Masitrede addiing: Otherwise I will drive them away. When the witnesses
and sone members of their ceremonis, that they did their best to trade
and that the others should also do their best, the said Mossel replied, that his
merchandise was not as good as the producer’s goods and that he therefore
wunted part of theirkins.

All the said witnesses jointlii depose it to be true, that when Hans Jorissen’s or
Thijs Mossel’s sloop came up to May's ship, from Hoorn, the same sloop mentioned

nights without having gunned over or shown any goods to those who were
appointed to see and clock the goods. Dirck Claesen and Frans Jansen both
declare it to be true that Jan Rodrigues, who was in the producer’s service and
who was on share with certain trading-goods for trade, first a shot. Thereafter
