parties at liberty and also warned andatushed them to keep peace and to
settle; as also the honorable burgomaster of the aforesaid city notified and andered
Adriaen Block, before the sailing of the ship on which Hendrick Christiaens is
master, not to continue inflicting any loss, hindrance andusterence to the
respondents in their navigation, trade and traffic, this it is that herewith they also
give notice to the summoners of the same, with announcement to submit them-
selves to that [ruling).
And in case the summoners should act contrary to their prejudice in this metter,
the said respondents expressly protest against the summoners and hold them
jointly and several liable for all loss, damage and interest which may result.
They shall apply, sue and recover the same in course of time against their persons
and goods, by all the maens and way of the law and as the respondents see sit
and advisable. The said respondents request that captain Block and some of his
schipohners be given notice of the afore mentioned, and that there be turned over
to them one or more copies to serve and help them in due time as is proper.
According to the said request I, Jan Franss Bruyningh, notary public, residing at
Amsterdam, admitted to the Court of Holland, in the presence of the witnesses
undersigned, presented myself on behalf of the said respondents to the said
Adriaen Block personally and to the persons of the respective Lambert van
Tweenhuysen and Pauels Pelgrim, merchants in the said city and also owners and
partners in the ship of the said Hendrik Christiaensen, as well as of thesaid
Adriaen Block, and gave them all clear and perfect notice herewith, real to them
on October 7, 1613 in the presence of Cornelis van Willigen and Hans Louis,
asked to be witnesses.
