charles james aves lived in London in 1901 and for sme years after his marriage. He was a musician on cruise ships and appears to have left his family sometime around 1921. He subsequetly reappears and remarries in New Zealand after 1923.
There is circumstantial evidence to believe that he might have been my great grandfather. My grandmother was born illegitimately to a serving girl who had been working in the London house where Charles James Aves was a lodger according to the 1901 census. Her mother always told her that her father was a musician on cruise ships.
