Question/answer » How do I let Open Archives keep searching for me?

You search for a name and find nothing. Or you do not want to miss anything about a family. Then it is annoying to search again and again. With Plus, Open Archives does this for you: the search monitor.

How it works

  1. Search for a name, possibly with a year or place.
  2. Below the search results, click the green button Monitor search query.
  3. From now on, Open Archives runs the search query regularly.
  4. Are there new records? Then you get an e-mail.

Why is this useful?

  • Archives keep adding new sources. Your ancestor may suddenly be found next month.
  • You do not have to remember anything. The monitor keeps running for years.
  • You can set up several monitors, for example one per family branch.

All your monitors are listed under My Open Archives › Search monitor. Per monitor you see the new results over time. You can view them and download them as PDF or GEDCOM.

The search monitor is part of the Plus subscription.
