Question/answer » How does Open Archives work together with Genealogy Online and my family tree program?

Open Archives and Genealogy Online are both services of Coret Genealogie. They work together. And you can exchange data with your family tree program.

Genealogy Online

  • You log in to both services with the same account.
  • On a record, Open Archives searches for family trees on Genealogy Online in which the persons appear. That way you find other researchers of the same family.
  • Do you publish your family tree on Genealogy Online? Then you get leads there: records on Open Archives that match persons in your family tree.

Your family tree program

With a Plus subscription you download a record, or all your favourite records, as a GEDCOM file. You import that file into your family tree program. The persons, dates, places and the source citation come along. You do not have to retype anything.

Always cite the source. You find the permanent link of the record on the record page.
