Besides the normal search, Open Archives has separate entries for special sources and for statistics.

Specific collections

On the page Specific collections you search one source separately. For example:

  • Slave registers of Suriname and Curaçao.
  • The 1950 census of Suriname.
  • Crew members of the Dutch East India Company (VOC).
  • Passenger lists of the Holland America Line.
  • Militia registers, personal files and prayer cards.

Each collection has search fields that fit that source.

Overviews

  • Family names: which names occur most, also per place.
  • Places: from which places there are records.
  • Professions: which professions occur in the records.

These overviews give you a picture of a region or a family. For example: in which villages did my family name occur around 1800?
