Question/answer » What are prayer cards and how do I add my own prayer cards?

A prayer card is a small card handed out at a Catholic funeral. It shows the name, the dates of birth and death and often a short description of the person's life. For family history research they are a rich source.

On Prayer cards you search millions of prayer cards. They come from collections of private persons, local history societies and archives.

Adding your own prayer cards

Do you have a collection yourself? You can put it on Open Archives. That way you help other researchers.

  1. Log in and go to My collection.
  2. Give your collection a name.
  3. Add prayer cards: upload the photo or scan and fill in the details.

Do you have a great many prayer cards? Then you can also supply them all at once. The collection page explains how.

Shared or private

You decide whether your collection is public. If the collection is public, your name is shown with it. You can always edit or delete your prayer cards.
