Question/answer » How do I search for a person?

On the start page there is one search box. Type the name of the person you are looking for. Click the search button or press Enter.

Tips for the search box

  • Type a surname, or a first name and a surname. For example: Helena van der Sommen.
  • Add a year to narrow the results. For example: Luscombe 1934.
  • Or a period: Dijkstra 1905-1910.

What do you see in the results?

You get a list of mentions. Per line you see the name, the role of the person in the record (for example child, father or bride), the event, the date, the place and the source. Click on a line to open the record.

Are there many results? Then use the filters next to the list. Or use the search tricks from the next question.
