Question/answer » What is the publication code and where do I find it?

Some family tree programs can send your data directly to Genealogy Online. You then no longer have to create and upload a GEDCOM file. Examples are GensDataPro and Geneaal.

For this to work, the program has to know which publication is yours. That is what the publication code is for. It is a secret code that belongs to your publication.

How to find the code

  1. Log in and go to Publication management.
  2. Choose your publication and click Show publication code.
  3. Copy the code into your family tree program. You only have to do this once.

After that, you can publish from your program. The program sends your data to Genealogy Online. Your publication is then updated.

Keep the code secret

Do not give the code to other people. Someone with your code can overwrite your publication.
