progress of the world, in connection with the Columbian Ex-
position of 1893. in a series of Worlds Congresses under the auspices of ihe
Auxiliary, with the assistance of the leaders in all the chief departments of
human achievement.
11. To provide places of meetins and other facilities tor appropriate
organirations to hold conventions in Chicago at a convenient time in the
Exposition season of 1893. tor the consideration of the livins questions pend-
ins in their respective departments.
111. To arrange and conduct a series of Union Congresses to present to
the people the most important results attained in the several departments of
civilized lite, voiced by the ablest livins representatives whose attendance can
ve procured.
1. To provide tor the proper publication of the proceedings of such
Congresses, as the most valuable and endurins memorial of the Worlds
Columbian Exposition of 1893.
V. To brins all the departments of human progress into harmonious
relations with each other in the Exposition of 1893: to croun the whole
glorious work by the formation and adoption of better and more compre-
hensive plans than have hitherto been made to promote the progress, pros-
perity, unity, peace, and happiness of the world: and to secure the effectual
prosecution of such plans by the organination of a series of world wide frater-
nities through whose efforts and influence the moral and intellectual forces
of mankind may be made dominant throughout the world.

The tollowing list of Departments, Divisions, Committees and Chairmen,
indicates the progress made by the Auxiliary to January, 1892. In each De-
partment named in this list, a Preliminary Organization nas been effected,
and a Preliminary Publication issued. That publication sets forth the scope
ot the Department: the nature ot the subjects to be considered: the Commit
tees in charge of the Department and its Divisions; and the Advisory Coun-
cils so far as yet appointed. The work is now so tar advanced that much
more rapid progress can be made durins 1892 than was possible in 1890 and
1891. The Committees of the Womans Branch of the Auxiliary are given in a
subsequent table.
