The following report has been made by Mr. E. L. Corthell, the Chairman
of the General Committee, who was appointed by the President as a Special
Commissioner of the Worlds Congress Auxiliary abroad:

President Worids Congress Auxiliary.
Dxan Sin: Thave just returned from Europe, where (have been engaged
durins the last four months in makins examinations of railroads, railroad ter-
minals, harbors, and of Engineerins in Universities and Technical Schoots;
also in inviting, personally, and by letters, the Engineers of Europe to the
International Engineerins Congress which it is proposed to hold here in 1893:
under the auspices of the Worlds Congress Auxiliary. My professional inter-
course with many eminent Engineers gave me a good opportunity, whenever
1 met them, to explain the Object and the Scope of the Congress. My position
as Chairman of the General Committee of the Worlds Congress Auxiliary on
Engineerins Congresses, and that of Chairman of the Executive Committee
ot the General Committee ot the Engineerins Societies of the United States
