this day, the 17th of July, 1632 appeared etc., in the
presence etc., the reverend Jonas Michaelius, Minister
in the Lord's service, formerly of New Netherland and
Abraham Pietersz, miller, formerly of the same place,
aged about 31 years and they have, with true goods in-
stead and offering to take the solemn cath, at the request
of Franchoijs Vesaert, former mill builder in New Nether-
land, declared, witnesses and attested that it is true:
Firstly, the aforesaid Jonas Michaelius; that he had
often been in brutal Consultation with the Secretary Jan
van Romund concerning the coruel and august possession
put upon the principal by the commander Pieter Minuit
and the manifold Peghery by which he southt to bring
him into disfavor with the Lords Directors. Item: that
the same secretary has declared to him, the witness, that
one of the mill builders (who had been sent to New Nether-
land as master sawmill builder) had told him that the
awmill of the principal should not have been half as good
as he had found it to the contrary, also that he had
enough course to do his work with it and, what is more,
that he would not mind having a share in it, although
the principal's mill was much lighter than one of the
mille that had been puilt at the order of the Company
and with far greater means; he, the witness also declares
that he has stood within the mill of the principal for
more than twoours and has observe that mill not only
ourned rapidly, in a moderate wind, but also evenly as
judged by the liues that had been merke on the beams,
this in the presence of several persons; all this the
wigness has Declaered before the Lords Directors. Item:
that the Walloons who were Regreement with
the Noble Lords Directors, have deviate from the said
agreement, as one Jacob Bentin, a partner in the mill of
the principal, declared to him; he the witness also de-
clares to have board from one Jacob Gerritsz (who served
the principal as boy) that the aforesaid commander Minuit
