this day, the 2nd of July, 1632, appeared etc., in
presence etc., Symen Dircxs, blockmaker,aged about
42 years and Jan Tijmensz, labourer,aged about 44 years
and have with true words instead and offering to take
solemna cath, declared, witnessed and attested at the
request of the honourable Pieter Minuict, formerly
Director of Newwareland, that it is true that the
principal, having sheard from certain persons that one
Hans Jorisz Huntum was to have said that the principal
had defrauses and deceased the Lords Directors of the
West India Company of this city, and that the same Huntum
had told down 600 guilders to the principal or his regents
for pelts, the property of the Company. whereuppon he,
the principal, accompanied by them, the witnesses had
gone to the aforesaid Huntum, asking the same whether
he hadEttered the above mentioned words to someone. Upon
which the said Huntum, in the hearing of them, the wit-
nesses, replied "I have never in my life thought so, how
then, could I have said so."
