Jan Vrugt (1833-1917) Tijdens of kort na de uitvaart van Jan Vrugt (op 08-01-1917) overleed zijn kleinzoon Jacob Vrugt aan de gevolgen van een klap van de molen.

Op 11-01-1917 berichtte de 'Provinciale Overijsselsche en Zwolsche Courant' hierover het volgende: Ongeluk. Terwijl de ouders van den 15 jarigen Jacob Vrugt te Noordbroeksterhamrik op begrafenis waren om den overleden ouden Vrugt de laatste eer te bewijzen, brachten eenige knapen den molen in beweging en sloeg een der wieken den spelenden Jacob in één slag dood.
