Makrander appears to be a variant of the family Macrander surname which was taken as a pseudonym of Langemann, a family lineage of Gerke Langemann of Helsen, Waldeck, Hessen, Germany in the 1500's. A close relative, possibly the son of Gerke Langemann named Arnoldt Langemann may have adopted Macrander or Makrander from Greek or Latin sources when he attended Marburg University.
