Op het kerkhof van het Zuiderzeemuseum in Enkhuizen is een graf met een grafsteen van een Simon Rotgans, 1868-1928, geboren in Enkhuizen.
Ik heb toestemming gevraagd (en gekregen) om vanavond dit graf te fotograferen. Normaal kan dat overdag, maar nu was het Lichtjesavond, en mocht je niet zomaar rondstruinen. De reden is dat er nog steeds op mijn Bucket-list een uitje naar de VOC-archieven in Den Haag staat gepland. Daar wil ik gaan uitzoeken of de naam Rotgans een VOC-naam is en/of van iemand die op het eiland Borneo terecht is gekomen en daar voor nazaten heeft gezorgd. In mijn Lagere School-klas heeft namelijk een klasgenootje gezeten met de naam Daphne Rotgans en zij was afkomstig van het eiland Borneo. En verder vind ik alles wat met de VOC te maken heeft: leuk, boeiend en interessant!
