Well sounds like my 5th grandfather......who daughter Elizabeth Margaret Pungel married William Auld Chalmers HEICS, in Panang.....William passed away around 1862 an Elizabeth around 1843 an are buried in a church or in the church yard in Croydon England, one of there sons was named Gerit A Chalmers. They saying in the family history that Gerrit was a Governor of Dutch Malacca but I've never found any evidence of it. Just stuff that mentions that he liked to drink excessively an was a minor merchant an clerk on some island council
