Jacoba Milikan was het oudere zusje van mijn moeder. Zij was een perfect kind en was nooit stout. De Rooms-Katholieke buurvrouw van mijn grootouders zei dat ze net een engeltje was en jong zou overlijden. Zij was wat men tegenwoordig hoogbegaafd zou noemen. Zij kreeg op de lagere school elven voor haar proefwerken en kwam dan huilende thuis. Als een dom kind een standje van de juffrouw kreeg kwam ze ook huilende thuis. Mijn grootmoeder Metje Milikan-de Vries was afkomstig uit Medemblik. In augustus 1920 ging het hele gezin naar Medemblik om de verjaardag van mijn grootmoeder op 12 augustus te vieren. Daar is Coba op 13 augustus aan difteritis overleden. De hele familie was er kapot van en haar hele schoolklas was op de begrafenis aanwezig. Mijn moeder, Helena Milikan, kreeg zes weken later ook difteritis, maar heeft het net overleefd. Ik ben de enige die nog regelmatig aan Coba denkt en wil graag, om haar nagedachtenis in ere te houden, een foto van haar uploaden maar weet niet hoe dat moet.
