New: Family announcements from the NGV collection
The Dutch Genealogical Society (NGV) has built up a large collection of family announcements over the years. The volunteers of the NGV are busy scanning and digitizing this collection so that it can be searched and viewed online. This mainly concerns newspaper clippings related to births, deaths, marriages and celebrations.
The index on the digitally available family announcements, with more than 392 thousand entries, is now included on Open Archives. There are now almost 207 million historical personal entries on Open Archives.
PS: To view the scans on the NGV website, you must be a member of the NGV and be logged in at their website.
Discount on Open Archives subscription for NGV members
Open Archives and the NGV have agreed to work together. Many genealogical researchers have already benefited from all the current information on Open Archives. The NGV family announcements are a welcome extension of that information. That is why we now offer NGV members a 15% discount on the Open Archives subscription.
There is a special subscription page with the exclusive discount offer for NGV members: https://www.openarchieven.nl/abonnement_voor_ngv_leden
On this page you can read what the subscription entails, such as:
- receiving e-mail notifications if there are new records for your search
- the downloading of lists of search results and records, which you can process in Excel or family tree software
- gaining immediate insight into children and ancestors from records
A subscription normally costs € 26.60, but now only € 22.61 for NGV members! You only have to pay the Open Archives subscription once, there are no annual recurring costs.
Beware: on the payment page we'll check whether your e-mail address is known to the NGV as a member.
Added sources
Every week new data is added to Open Archives in the form of updates that archive organizations and local history associations make available.
A somewhat larger addition concerns the further access "Alphabetical lists of names of correctionally convicted persons" to the "Judgments in criminal cases from Assen (1838-1893)" of the Drents Archief. These judgments can now also be searched via Open Archives.
This time there is also expansion because the data from Historisch Archief Westland is presented on Open Archives. You can now also search the public records of the civil registry of the municipalities of Naaldwijk, 's-Gravenzande, Monster, De Lier and Wateringen on Open Archives!
